Steve Mic & The Hold Tights started as a project for longtime friends Tim Cook and Steve Mic to play music together again. Both are Portland natives who met in middle school. Eventually they would start their musical journey together in the early 90's with their band Backbone.

Back together in 2020, they started playing some Tom Waits, OG soul and originals. SMATHT has since evolved in what could best be described as "Dirty Soul". A mixture of soul, funk, blues and rock & roll. Combine that with with colorful storytelling, dark humor, gritty vocals and a 2 sax horn section and you have a recipe for Dirty Soul stew.

 

If Tom Waits and James Brown had a baby, they'd call it Steve Mic and The Hold Tights.
